My unit is a 1930s courtyard apartment with no cross-ventilation. How long will the carpet stay damp?

Longer than most people expect, which is why we adjust the method to the unit. That kind of soiling is bonded, not loose, so it needs a proper pre-treatment and dwell time rather than a fast pass with the wand.
